Noxon clinches home win in final play against White Sulphur

It was an exciting matchup Friday as Noxon hosted White Sulphur Springs. The Red Devils won the game in the last play of the game, taking the home win 59-53.

The Devils were able to start the game with a quick score as quarterback Justice Kayser was able to find Shane Hatchel. White Sulphur answered with a 25-yard scoring run. Before the Hornets knew what was going to happen, Kayser launched a 45-yard pass to Chance McDaid to take the lead.

Coming into the second quarter, the Devils would once again find themselves in the end zone, which the Hornets answered with their own scoring drive. While White Sulphur wouldn't be able to stop Kayser from finding Ian Brown for a 40 yard pass for another Noxon score. The Hornets would find the end zone two more times before the half.

To start the second half, Kayser would once again show his throwing skills, this time finding Ricky Williams for a massive 60-yard pass to score. White Sulphur was able to answer with a quick four yard touchdown. The Hornets were able to find the end zone once more before the fourth quarter.

Coming into the final quarter, Kayser again connected with Williams for a Red Devil touchdown. White Sulphur was able to score from a kickoff return, but their defense wouldn't be able to stop Kayser from once again finding McDaid for a colossal 30 yard pass touchdown to take the lead. The Hornets again answered with a touchdown, but the Red Devils fought back and Kayser would find Williams for the last play of the game and the win.

JEFFERSON 43 THOMPSON FALLS 6

The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks celebrated homecoming on Saturday, but lost their first home game to the Jefferson Panthers 41-6.

Jefferson came out of the gate getting the first touchdown early in the first quarter. With four minutes left in the first quarter, the Hawks scored on a 16-yard run by Kaiden Robins, putting Thompson down just one point. The Panthers tried for a massive kick return touchdown, but a holding call would void it.

Headed into the second quarter, the Panthers would find themselves in the end zone for another touchdown to bring more points between the teams. Thompson was unable to break past the defense. With a mere 30 seconds left before the half, Jefferson found the end zone for another touchdown bringing the score 20-6 at the half.

While Thompson was unable to gain any more touchdowns in the third, they were able to keep the Panthers from gaining more points for much of the third quarter. With six minutes left Jefferson was able to sneak in a three yard run to bring the score 27-6. After a Hawk fumble, the Panthers were able to capitalize and earn another touchdown.

During the final quarter Thompson would try to earn another touchdown but was shut down by the Jefferson defense. The Hawks would not be able to gain another touchdown before the end of the game. The Panthers would sneak in another four yard touchdown to take the win.

Robins led the Hawks with 68 yards passing, and 61 yards rushing. Bryson LeCoure was behind with 20 yards rushing. Michael Koskela had 47 yards receiving, while LeCoure led the Hawks with seven tackles. Bryson McCormick, Sam Burgess and Robins each had three tackles.
