Plains takes TF in five sets in wild matchup

PLAINS 3, THOMPSON FALLS 2

If you didn't have hearing loss when you walked into the Plains high school gym last Thursday, you might have walked out with a bit after the Trotters defeated county rivals, the Thompson Falls Lady Hawks, in five exciting sets.

The Lady Hawks came out and would gain the first five points, until Kalli Tuma got the serving lead for the Trotters to tie the game. Taylor Saner's serves helped keep the Trotters in the lead, but the Lady Hawks never faltered, kept a level head, and were able to close the point gap and tie the game back up at 16. The teams would go back to exciting volleys before Thompson would take the lead. The Trotters would meet the Hawks at 22 points and each team would fight point for point until Thompson held the lead at 27-26. The Trotters would find the serving lead and after several nail biting volleys, Plains would take the first set 30-28.

The second set started with the Trotters taking a four point lead, while the Hawks would try to come back. Plains would keep the lead until the teams tied the game at 16 points. After intense volleys, the two teams went point for point until the Hawks were able to take the 27-25 set win.

In the third set Plains came out to take the lead once again. Thompson would try to close the point gap but were unable to. The Trotters would find Lexi Deming for a couple powerhouse hits to keep their lead. While the Hawks were able to keep a level head and band together as a team, they weren't able to close the point gap and the Trotters would take the third set for themselves.

Plains would start out with a serving lead over the hawks, and would take a six point lead over Thompson. But the strong teamwork of the Hawks allowed them to close the point gap early in the set. The teams would tie at 15 points before Thompson would take the lead. Addi Pardee was able to hammer several spikes for the Hawks to keep the lead. The Trotters were able to band together to bring the points within one at 24-25. It would be the Lady Hawks who would take back the serve and the set win.

The fifth and final set had the crowd on the edge of their seats, both teams exhausted. The teams would start out going point for point, volley for intense volley, until the Trotters were able to take a slight lead. Plains would be able to keep their serving lead and, after several fierce and long volleys, the Trotters would take the set and the at home win.

Teagan Saner led for the Trotters with 19 kills, Aubree Butcher and Claire Lakko behind with 12 each. Kalli Tuma and Teagan Saner each got four aces for Plains. Teagan Saner had nine blocks, and Butcher had eight. Tuma dug up 32 digs, with Taylor Saner behind with 30 and Teagan Saner rounding it out for the Trotters with 25.

Sarah Koskela led for the Hawks with 17 kills, Addi Pardee behind with 13. Gabi Hannum had four out of the seven Hawk aces. Addy Deal had four blocks, and Olivia Fitchett led Thompson with 15 digs.

PLAINS 3, HOT SPRINGS 0

The Trotters faced the Hot Springs Lady Savage Heat taking the win in three sets.

Plains came out to gain the first points, before Hot Springs was able to tie up the game. From there Plains would take the lead once again. They would make their lead larger until they had a six point lead. After intense volleys the Trotters would hold onto their lead and soon had a nine point lead over the Lady Heat. Hot Springs kept their teamwork and tried to make the point gap shorter, but were unable to and the Trotters would take the set win.

Hot Springs would come out to take the lead in the second set, before the Trotters found their groove and were able to take back the lead. Hot Springs was able to hold the Trotters at 20 points while gaining their own to tie up the game. But the Trotters were able to take the serving lead and the match win.

Aubree Butcher led the Trotters with seven kills, Taylor Saner behind with five. Lexi Deming had seven aces for Plains, with Trystan Larsen behind with three. Butcher had four blocks, while Kalli Tuma had 13 digs and Taylor Saner had 10. Claire Lakko had 15 set assists.

THOMPSON FALLS 3, ANACONDA 1

The Lady Hawks then hosted the Anaconda Copperheads, taking the win in four sets.

The Hawks came out on fire gaining the first points for themselves. Anaconda would tie the game early before Thompson would take the lead again. The teams would go point for point until the Hawks were able to keep the serving lead and held the Copperheads at just 17 points, while keeping the lead. A swift team block by Annalise Fairbank and Gabi Hannum allowed the Hawks to take the set win.

The teams would go volley for volley in the second set early in the match, putting the points within two. Tying the game at eight points, Anaconda was able to take the lead over the Hawks. Thompson kept a level head and was able to get the serve back and put the teams within one point of each other. But the Copperheads sank their teeth in and kept their lead to take the set win.

In the third set,with the game tied at six points, Anaconda would once again take the lead over Thompson. The Hawks were able to hold Anaconda to just 22 points while gaining their own points. While it seemed the Copperheads had the set, the Hawks came flying in to take the last few points for themselves, taking the set win.

In the final set the teams would quickly tie up the game. Soon the Hawks held a five point lead over the Copperheads. Thompson was able to capitalize off several Anaconda mistakes to keep their lead and take the win.

Annalise Fairbank led for Thompson with 20 set assists, Gabi Hannum proved her skills at the net getting nine blocks and six kills. Sarah Koskela and Addy Deal behind with five kills each. Koskela led for the Hawks with 10 digs.

SEELEY SWAN 3,

HOT SPRINGS 1

The Lady Savage Heat then traveled to take on the Seeley Swan Lady Black Hawks falling in four sets.

The teams would come out going point for point until Seeley was able to take a slight lead over Hot Springs. The Lady Heat kept a level head and were able to take the lead back from the Black Hawks. The teams would tie at 15 points until the Black Hawks once again took the lead. Hot Springs wouldn't let Seeley get more than two points ahead before the Lady Black Hawks got the serve and were able to take the first set win.

Hot Springs would take the first points in the second set, until the Black Hawks earned the serve and they were able to take back the lead. From there they would take a massive 10 point lead over the Savage Heat. Hot Springs wouldn't be able to recover and the Black Hawks would take the second set win.

Seeley would take the first points for themselves in the third set, but the Heat kept their great teamwork and were able to get the lead back early in the set. They would gain a six point lead over the Black Hawks. Brooke Jackson's serving would help the Lady Heat take the third set win.

Coming into the fourth set, the Lady Heat took the first points, but Seeley would keep the points within two. The teams would fight and go point for point and volley for volley. The game would tie up at 17 points, with the Heat then taking the lead. But Seeley would hold Hot Springs at just 21, while closing the point gap. The Black Hawks would then take the lead and win the match.

NOXON 3, ALBERTON 0

The Noxon Red Devils took to the road taking on the Alberton Panthers, securing the win in three sets.

Quickly the Devils took the lead over the Panthers, but Alberton was able to gain points to tie up the game early in the set. Noxon kept a level head and would once again take a serving lead over the Panthers. They would hang on to their lead for much of the set. Alberton would be able to tie up the game at 16 points before the Devils took the lead back. They would be able to hang onto their serving lead for the rest of the set to take the win.

Headed into the second set, the Devils took the lead early on, but the Panthers were able to keep their teamwork and brought the score to a tie. Noxon would be able to take back the serving lead working together to keep their lead. The Panthers would bring the points within two, but once Noxon got the serve they were able to keep the Panthers from scoring to take the second set win.

In the final set, the Devils came in hot and took the lead early. Capitalizing off several Panther errors, the Devils held their eight point lead over the Panthers. They would make their lead even larger, keeping Alberton to just 13 points while being able to keep their massive lead to take the match win.

Jasmin Risch and Seanna Richter led the Devils with five aces each, and Richter had 11 kills for Noxon. Risch led with three digs and nine set assists.

GRANITE 3, NOXON 0

The Noxon Lady Devils then hit the road taking on the Granite Prospectors falling in three sets.

Granite was quick to take the lead over Noxon early in the first set. But the Lady Devils worked together as a team and would bring the scores within two points. The Prospectors would find their serving groove and would keep the Devils to just seven points in the first set while gaining their own points to take the set win.

Headed into the second set the Devils found their fire and came out to gain the first points, they would keep the points close together for much of the second set until Granite was able to pull ahead and take the win.

In the third set Granite came out on fire getting the first points and taking a four point lead over the Devils. Noxon kept a level head and was able to bring the scores closer together, before the Prospectors were able to gain the serve and take back their lead. The Lady Devils were able to keep the points within two, before the Prospectors would find holes in the Noxon defense and get the serving lead back. Granite would hold the Lady Devils to 17 while taking the match win.

Jasmin Risch led for the Lady Devils with eight set assists, and eight digs. Seanna Richter hammered down eight kills with Emma Swanson behind with three.
