October is now known as STEAMtober, a month dedicated to Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math. To celebrate, the Thompson Falls Public Library, in conjunction with the Sanders County Homeschoolers, is holding STEAM events on three Fridays throughout the month. These events are free, start at 11 a.m., happen in the Thompson Falls Public Library, and all ages are invited.
October 4 is the annual FrankenSTEAM event where participants will transform toys donated by Little Bitterroot Thrift Shop into monsters using tape, glue, scissors, hammers, string, pipe cleaners, and anything else they can imagine.
On October 18, Galactic Quest Part 1 participants will have one hour to either build a robotic arm, complete a space game, or learn about constellations and telescopes. This event is based on a kit created by the National 4-H Council and the US Space Force.
The Galactic Quest event continues on October 25 with participants having one hour to do one of the tasks they were unable to do on October 18, including build a robotic arm, complete a space game, or learn about constellations and telescopes.
