Blue Hawks get big win on the road

THOMPSON FALLS 28, ANACONDA 0

The Thompson Falls Blue Hawks hit the road facing the Anaconda Copperheads, taking the road win 28-0.

To start the game, Hawk Kaiden Robins was able to find Michael Koskela for a 20 yard pass touchdown. The Copperheads would try to answer back but were unable to get past the tight-knit Hawk defense. Bryson LeCoure would find Mason Park for a swift four yard pass touchdown, with the two point conversion good, to put Thompson in the lead 14-0.

Going into the second quarter the teams would fight yard for yard but neither team would be able to gain another touchdown before the half.

Coming back from the half, both teams upped their defenses making each other work for their gained yards. But the Hawks would keep their lead headed into the final quarter.

To start the final quarter Hawk Sam Burgess was able to gain a massive 20 yard run touchdown for Thompson, putting them ahead 22 points. Thompson was able to continue to keep their strong defense and wouldn't let the Copperheads gain a touchdown. Before the end of the quarter Robins was able to find a quick five yard run to score the final touchdown for the Hawks, securing the win.

Robins led Thompson with 86 yards passing, with LeCoure behind with 11. Robins led the Hawks with 145 yards rushing, with LeCoure getting 69. LeCoure, Ian Myers, and Jason Myders held the top spots for the Hawks with four tackles each. Sam Burgess, Mason Park, and Bryson McCormick each earned three for Thompson. Michael Koskela and Noa Stevens rounded it out for the Hawks with two tackles each.

"We came into this game fired up, and we were able to keep that fire and wear the Anaconda defense down, keeping them scoreless for the game. It was also nice to see some of the younger guys get some good playing time and get some touchdowns," said head coach Jared Koskela.

The Hawks host the Eureka Lions on Friday with kickoff starting at 7 p.m.

NOXON 41,

ALBERTON 0

The Noxon Red Devils hosted the Alberton Panthers for their homecoming game, taking the win 41-0.

It was a quick start to the game for the Devils as Justice Kayser was able to find Ricky Williams for a touchdown, and with the extra point kick good this brought the score eight to zero only a minute into the game. Alberton tried to push past the fiery Noxon defense to try for their own touchdown but were unable. Before the crowd knew it the Devils had broken away from the Panthers to gain another touchdown. Putting together a short play for a one point conversion, Noxon was able to gain the extra point. Noxon put their helmets to the ground and kept Alberton from gaining a touchdown before a fourth down. With minutes left Logan Buckner was able to find the end zone for another Devil touchdown.

To start the second quarter quarterback Kayser was able to find Chance McDaid for a swift Noxon touchdown. Alberton would stand no chance against the Devil defense and wouldn't be able to gain a touchdown. The Panthers would try to put a stop to the on fire Devils before the half, but once again Kayser was able to read the field and find McDaid for another Noxon touchdown, bringing the score to 35-0 at the half.

Coming back from the half the Panthers found their drive and were able to keep the Devils from scoring the whole quarter. But Noxon was able to do the same, keeping both teams scoreless before the final quarter.

During the final quarter both teams kept their strong defense and were able to make the other team fight for yards before Shane Hatchel was able to get an interception and score the final touchdown of the game.

"The boys played well; we put in the younger guys and they did great. It was a big learning experience for them. They were able to keep Alberton scoreless and that's huge," said coach Lucas McArthur. "Our focus now is to keep this momentum and get a win over West Yellowstone.

The Devils hit the road and take on the West Yellowstone Wolverines on Saturday October 5.

SUPERIOR 60,

PLAINS 28

The Plains Horsemen hosted the Superior Bobcats falling 60-28.

Superior started the game out pushing the Horsemen defense until they were able to get a swift 10 yard touchdown. Plains would be unable to answer back with a touchdown of their own. The Horsemen would be able to keep this the only Bobcat touchdown before the second quarter.

The Plains defense went to work in the second quarter but was bypassed by the Bobcats for another touchdown, keeping them in the lead. Superior was able to gain another massive touchdown before Darren Standeford was able to throw Zayden Allen a quick 10 yard touchdown, putting the Horsemen on the board. The Bobcats would answer with their own mammoth 40 yard touchdown. Plains was able to break past the Superior defense for Standeford to gain a swift 15 yard run touchdown. But with only a minute left before the half the Bobcats would be able to get past the hard hitting Horsemen defense to put more points on the board.

Coming back from the half, the Bobcats would sneak past the Horsemen defense to put another touchdown in the end zone. Plains would be unable to gain the yards for a touchdown before the Bobcats had their chance for another first down. Earning the first down, they were able to capitalize, getting past the Horsemen defense to put another touchdown on the board. The Horsemen offense was able to find Greg Tatum for a quick touchdown, answered with a large 37 yard Bobcat run touchdown.

Headed into the final quarter it would be the Horsemen who would gain the first touchdown early in the quarter,when Shawn O'Keefe had a 33 yard fumble return touchdown. The teams would fight yards for yards until Superior would break past the tight-knit Plains defense to put one more touchdown on the board to take the win.

Darren Standeford had 144 yards passing for the Horsemen, with 75 yards rushing. Wyatt Butcher led with 88 receiving yards, and Jamie Martinez went four for four on extra point kicks for Plains. Darren Standeford led the Horsemen with nine tackles, with Cody West and Zayden Allen came behind with seven each.

The Horsemen host the Troy Trojans for their homecoming game on Friday, October 4.
