Alvin Francis Shaw

Alvin Francis Shaw, beloved husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was called home to his eternal resting place with the Lord on October 6, 2024. He is preceded in death by his parents Wayne and Wilma Shaw, sister Elaine Kimes and brother Delbert Shaw. He passed away peacefully at home as per his wishes. He met his lifelong companion Karen Andrews in Kansas in 1958. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years Karen Elaine Shaw, daughters Crystal Shaw, Diana Doyle (Jay Doyle) and Melanie Shaw, brother Norman Shaw (Arizona) and sister Marge McWilliams (Alton McWilliams) of Tennessee.

Although Alvin was a private person at heart, he never met a stranger and left numerous friends that he considered to be his lifelong friends. His strong handshake and his faith will be remembered by many.

Alvin was born in Glade, Kansas at his family home in 1937. His love of farming soon took hold and he went to work with family members working the ground and growing crops. His father started a post and pole business near Laporte, Colorado. Having strong family values instilled upon him at an early age, Alvin decided to join his father along with a brother to help with the family business where he would spend several years working in the timber industry. They would use draft horses to skid the timber to be later turned into posts and poles. He had also worked as a hunting guide during the hunting season.

In 1969 Alvin moved his young family to Ronan, Montana, where his father had purchased property and homes in the North Crow area. He eventually went to work for a farmer near Polson where he spent many years raising potatoes and wheat. In his later years he and his wife Karen moved back to Kansas to help with Karen's parents where he continued working in the farming industry with a cousin.

In 2001, Alvin and Karen purchased property in Thompson Falls, Montana. He purchased a small saw mill and with the help of his brother, built his retirement home in the woods. A plaque in his home reads "May the peace of the wilderness be with you". His wishes to be in the peacefulness of the wilderness, in his home, until the end, has been fulfilled.

Karen would like to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone that helped during Alvin's final days to include the Doctors and nurses of the Clark Fork Valley Hospital and the hospice caregivers. "You know who you are". God bless you all.
