Plains wins at home against Troy

PLAINS 3, TROY 0

The Plains Trotters hosted the Troy Lady Trojans for their last home game of the regular season, taking the win in three action packed sets.

Quickly the Trotters set the tone for the first match taking a five point lead over Troy, while the Trojans were able to keep a level head and bring the points within two. Plains kept their strong team work and were able to take back their large lead over the Trojans. Slamming down aces and spikes, the Trotters would have a massive seven point lead over Troy. The Trojans would only gain two more points before Plains was able to read the court and a quick ace serve led to them winning the first set.

It would be the Trojans who came out and gained the first points in the second set, but the Trotters found their groove and would be swift to take back the lead. The teams would go volley for volley, but Troy couldn't take back the lead. With the Trotters up eight points and only needing two more points for the set win, an ace made for one more point. Claire Lakko was able to set a near perfect set to senior Teagan Saner for a wicked spike for the final point of the game.

Hyped from game two the Trotters were quick to take a large lead over Troy, putting eight points between the teams in a blink of an eye. With the score 13-5, Plains would only allow the Trojans to gain five more points before holding them 20-10. Once more Lakko was able to find Teagan for another spike to take the match win.

Senior Tegan Saner had a great game, earning top spots for Plains with 15 spikes, seven blocks, five aces, and 15 digs. Lexie Deming was behind with 10 spikes, Aubree Butcher behind with seven and Kalli Tuma rounded it out with five. Clare Lakko had five blocks, and dug up 10 digs, while Taylor Saner had 13 digs.

EUREKA 3, PLAINS 0

The Trotters then hit the road taking on the Eureka Lady Lions, falling in three sets.

Coming out of the cage, the Lions were swift to take the lead over Plains, but the Trotters were able to band together to bring the score within one. The Trotters wouldn't let Eureka get too far ahead, keeping the points within three. The Lions were quiet with their attack and would take back a large lead over the Trotters. Soon the score was 13-19, and it looked as if Eureka would hold the hard hitting Trotters. Plains was able to find their groove and would gain back the serve, holding the Lions to 20 points while gaining their own, but it wouldn't be enough for the set win.

Eureka was able to take the lead in the second set, putting a five point gap between the teams. Plains was able to gain back the serve and would lessen the point gap. From there the Trotters would take a brief lead before the Lions were able to capitalize off Plains mistakes to take back the lead. While the teams had grand volleys, Eureka would make their lead even larger, holding the Trotters to just 11 points while taking the second set win.

Plains came out in the third and put six points between the teams. But the Lions were quick to lessen the point gap, and would soon take back the serve and gain the lead. It was short as the Trotters banded together once more and would take back the lead. With the game tied at just 20 points, it would be the Lions who would take the lead. Plains held on and would gain back the serve putting them at a tie at 22 points. From there the teams would go point for point until Eureka was able to hold the Trotters to 24 points while taking the match win.

Senior Lexie Deming held the lead for the Trotters with three aces, Trystan Larsen behind with two. Teagan Saner had the lead with nine spikes, Taylor Saner behind with eight, and Deming and Aubree Butcher each earned five. Teagan had eight blocks, with Kalli Tuma behind with five. Taylor Saner dug up 17 digs, with Clare Lakko behind with 14, and Deming had 13 for the Trotters.

THOMPSON FALLS 3, TROY 0

The Lady Hawks took to the road one last time taking on the Troy Lady Trojans and taking the win in three quick sets.

Troy came out and earned the first points, making the Lady Hawks band together quickly if they wanted to take back the lead. The teams would tie the game at nine points, before the Hawks were able to take the lead and, with the help of Addie Pardee's serves, they were able to make their lead larger. With the score 19-13, Thompson would only allow the Trojans to gain two more points before taking the first set win.

The teams would start set two going point for point, until the Hawks were able to take the lead and the score was 12-4. Troy was able to gain a few more points before the Hawks would earn the serve back. Thompson would hold Troy to only 14 points to take the second set win.

The Hawks came out on fire in the third, quickly putting a gap between the teams. Within moments the Hawks held a 17-6 lead over Troy. Working together like a well oiled machine, the Hawks would only give the Trojans six points before hitting the 25 needed for the match win.

Olivia Fitchett led with 21 set assists, setting up Addi Pardee and Addy Deal with nine spikes each. Sarah Koskela dug up 3 digs against the Trojans, while Deal earned two blocks for the Hawks.

THOMPSON FALLS 2, EUREKA 3

The Hawks then hosted their last home game of the regular season against the Eureka Lions, taking the win in five intense sets.

The teams came out going point for point, quickly tying the game at six before the Hawks would take their first lead of the set. The teams would go back to intense volleys, before tying the game back up at 12 points. From there Thompson would take back the lead and make it larger. The Lions held on and would gain back the serve and would try to lessen the point gap. The Hawks would hold onto their large lead, but Eureka finally found their groove and would come back to put the points within two. The Hawks would allow the Lions to gain two points, putting them 23-19, before gaining the final two points needed for the first set win.

Thompson would gain the first few points in the second set, before Eureka found their groove and would take the lead. The Hawks would stay on their tails, until the Lions gained the serve and would hold Thompson while putting more points between the teams. Eureka would hold a six point lead over the Hawks, and in a blink of an eye they would turn that into a massive 15 point gap. Thompson would only gain seven points before the Lions took the second set.

Not letting the loss get to them, the heavy hitting Hawks would come out and swiftly take the lead. They weren't able to take a large lead, but held a three point lead working together to keep long intense volleys going. The Hawks would gain a five point lead over the Lions, but Eureka would find their groove and would make a slight comeback. They wouldn't be able to take the lead from the Hawks, and with the score 24-19, the Lions would gain one more point before a block by Annalise Fairbank gave Thompson the set win.

The powerhouse teams hit the court for the fourth set, where they would start out point for point. They would continue going until the Hawks pulled ahead 11-9. The Lions would come back to put the points within one, and from there the teams would tie the game at 17 points. The teams would go point for point until once more tying the game up at 20. From there Eureka would hold Thompson and gain the points needed to take the set win.

Then it was the final set. Thompson knew they needed to set the tone early and they did, taking a swift four point lead over the Lions. Once Eureka gained the serve they were able to tie the game at seven. After several intense volleys the Hawks were able to take back their lead. But the Lions were quick on the prowl and would keep the points close together, until they were able to hold Thompson at just 12 points, taking the match win.

Fitchett led Thompson with an 57 set assists, setting up Deal with 17 spikes. Pardee came behind with 15 spikes and eight digs. Annalise Fairbank led with three of the team's four blocks.
