Man pleads not guilty to sexual assault charges

Levi Sterling Laird appeared before Judge Molly Owen on Tuesday, making his initial appearance on three felony counts of sexual assault. Laird’s attorney, Nicholas Aemisegger, advised Judge Owen that Laird was not prepared to answer to the amended information filed recently as the supporting affidavit had not been filed, which charged Laird with two additional counts of sexual assault. Laird did enter his not guilty pleas to the original three counts. Judge Owen set this matter for an arraignment on the additional two counts for December 10 and set this matter for jury trial on May 12, 2025.

On October 30, as alleged in the charging documents, Detective April Phillips was informed of a minor child who had disclosed to a trusted person that Laird, had sexually assaulted her about two years ago. Detective Phillips met with the child, who told her that Laird had assaulted her on several separate occasions.

Wesley Morrison appeared before Judge Owen, following his arrest on a warrant that was issued after he failed to appear for his omnibus hearing in February. Judge Owen reset his jury trial for May 12, 2025.
