Plains falls to Mission, Eureka

MISSION 63,

PLAINS 19

The Plains Trotters hosted the Mission Lady Bulldogs, who came out on fire gaining the first several points before Plains could get on the board. Putting a full court press on the Trotters, the Bulldogs were able to capitalize off several steals to put more points between the teams. Mission only allowed the Trotters two baskets the whole of the first quarter. Headed into the second the Bulldogs kept their intensity, continuing to put more baskets on the board. Once again Mission kept the Trotters to only two baskets before the half, while putting up an impressive 21 points. Plains came out with new fire in the third, and quickly put up the first basket, but it was answered with a three pointer from the Bulldogs. The teams would go basket for basket in the third, with the Trotters trying to lessen the point gap Mission put between them. The Bulldogs would have another big quarter in the fourth, once again putting down 21 points to the Trotters four to take the win.

Mila Rivinius had six points for the Trotters, Taryn Meredith and Ava Lawyer each had four, and Katelyn Subatch had three points for Plains.

MISSION 73,

PLAINS 66

The Horsemen then hit the court against the Bulldogs of Mission, with Plains coming out and gaining the first baskets before the Bulldogs could score. The teams would go basket for basket for the rest of the quarter with the Horsemen ahead by two. Coming into the second, Mission kept close behidn the Horsemen and would tie it up with three minutes left before taking a one-point lead at halftime.The Bulldogs came out in the third quarter to gain the first points over Plains. With just a minute left before the final quarter, the Bulldogs would pull ahead after putting up 23 points to the Horsemen’s 16 during the third quarter. Plains was able to sink the first baskets and put the points back within six, until the Bulldogs were able to pull ahead. While the Horsemen were able to continue to put more points on the board, they were unable to gain the home court win.

Zayden Allen led with 28 points, Luciano Ferranti had 16 points, while Wyatt Butcher and Kort Craft each had six for the Horsemen.

EUREKA 53,

PLAINS 24

The Lions defense xcame out in full force in Plains on Saturday, keeping Plains to just one basket in the first. The Horsemen were able to keep Eureka to minimal scoring before the half, but the Lions kept Plains to minimal scoring as well.

Coming back from the half the score was 22-10. Eureka would work to keep their lead while Plains struggled to answer with baskets of their own. The Horsemen would enter the final quarter down 19 points. Eureka would only allow one more basket from Plains while putting up 15 points of their own to seal their win.

Luciano Ferranti led with six points, Zayden Allen behind with five and Wyatt Butcher and Jacob Lulack each had four for Plains.

EUREKA 35,

PLAINS 34

The Trotters and the Lady Lions had a close game from the start, with intense play leading to the teams trading leads early until the Trotters pulled ahead in the second.

The Trotters would go into halftime up by five points, but Eureka opened the third quarter with a swift basket and two free throws to put them behind by just one point. The Lions found themselves taking the lead after a swift jump stop shot. The Trotters tried to answer with their own basket but were unable to, and before the crowd knew it, Eureka was sinking another basket to keep the lead. The teams would go back and forth entering the final quarter with the Lions ahead by just one point. Going basket for basket, the Lions were able to keep their lead to take the win.

Ava Lawyer and Katelyn Subatch led with nine points each, with Mila Rivinius earning seven for Plains.
